CBD, the Neuroprotective Supplement We All Need

CBD, the Neuroprotective Supplement We All Need

Did you know that CBD has been shown in studies to prevent and even reverse some of the effects of diseases such as Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, MS, and Dyskinesia.

A study from 2009 showed CBD was able to lower the episodes of psychosis that is associated with Parkinsons. In a 2013 study CBD was shown to not only reduce the psychosis, but also improve the motor function in the animal models. It is believed that due to is neuroprotective capabilities and its ability to stop the cell death brought on by neurological movement disorders, CBD is likely a key treatment and preventative measure for Parkinson’s.

CBD was also shown in a study from 2007 to reduce the atrophy that is linked to Huntington’s Disease. A study from 2018 states, cannabidiol reduces spasticity, pain, inflammation, fatigue, and depression that is associated with Multiple Sclerosis.

A review of CBD’s benefits on neurological disorders states, “has shown numerous therapeutic properties for brain function and protection, both by its effect on the ECS directly and by influencing endogenous cannabinoids. Broadly, CBD has demonstrated anxiolytic, antidepressant, neuroprotective antiinflammatory, and immunomodulatory benefits.”

The review also referenced CBD in reference to cancer, “CBD has also been shown to reduce the growth of different types of tumor xenografts including gliomas. The mechanism of action of CBD is thought to be increased production of ROS in glioma cells, thereby inducing cytotoxicity or apoptosis and autophagy.”

A study from 2012 states, CBD is able to inhibit cancer cell invasion and metastasis mediated by inhibition of epidermal growth factor, NF-κB, and mTOR pathways. mTOR signaling pathway acts as the central regulator of cell metabolism, growth, proliferation, and survival, and is critical for tumor suppression. CBD also reduces angiogenesis through actions on both tumor and endothelial cells.

While obviously more studies are needed, there continues to be more and more evidence of the benefits of CBD both for therapeutic reasons but also as preventative.

Even if you do not suffer from a chronic pain or illness, a daily supplement of CBD should still be taken based on its ability to prevent brain degeneration. If you have any questions, send us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
